Phil Mickelson Comes Back From Six Shots to Win at Pebble Beach

Monday, 13 February 2012 01:57

BREAKING NEWS!! (February 13, 2012) -- Phil Mickelson was having terrific practice sessions all year, but couldn't take those results to the course. But a quick session with Butch Harmon helped him and he definitely took it to the course with a final round 64 to win the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He also beat Tiger Woods head-to-head when in the same group for the fifth-straight time.

"It means a lot to me because I haven't played the last year the way I would like to," Mickelson told the Media following his 40th PGA Tour victory. "I felt like my game was so close heading into the season, and yet my scores didn't reflect how I felt I was playing.  And to put it together this week and especially the final round with this round just feels terrific, and it gives me a lot of confidence but also inspires me because I believe now more so that what I'm doing is correct and that I'm able to play some of my best golf."

Mickelson was also asked if Harmon had helped him mentally by revealing some of Woods' mental intimidation tactics. "Possibly," Mickelson said coyly during the post-round press conference.
