Jimmy Walker Wins Sony Open For 4th PGA TOUR Victory

Monday, 19 January 2015 13:36

Jimmy Walker, who works with Butch Harmon, won the PGA TOUR's Sony Open a week after finishing as the runner-up in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Walker has worked with Harmon on his swing for about two and a half years, and told the media following the victory that he and Butch shared text messages prior to the final round of the Sony Open. "He sent me a text this morning, and said, 'keep the pedal down, keep the pedal down today," Walker told the media. "'You're playing good, so just keep the pedal down.' (So my) mindset was to be smart, be aggressive, make good shots and get some putts to go in. And that's kind of what ended up happening."

Walker dominated the Sony Open, winning be nine strokes. Walker also leads the Fed Ex Cup standings and has three top 10 finishers in his five starts so far in the 2014-15 season. His scoring average is 69.78 and he is 12th in the World Golf Ranking.
