Butch Harmon has been involved in the golf arena for more than 46 years. His father, Claude Harmon, a renowned club and teaching professional and 1948 Masters Champion, introduced him to the game. Harmon followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming an accomplished player on the PGA TOUR in the early 1970’s. In 1971, his final year on the PGA TOUR, Harmon won the B.C. Open. And for 12 years running, Butch has been voted as the top instructor in a poll of his peers as conducted by Golf Digest.

Harmon is the President of Butch Harmon School of Golf in Las Vegas, Nevada, and he travels around the country playing in corporate and charity golf outings. Harmon is a leading analyst for British Sky Broadcasting for the last 15 years and covers U.S. Open, PGA, Ryder Cup, Players Championship and all world events. Additionally, Harmon has been a teaching instructor to several PGA TOUR pros, including currently Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Gary Woodland, Nick Watney, Fred Couples and LPGA Tour Star Natalie Gulbis. He has also worked with Tiger Woods, Greg Norman, Adam Scott, Ernie Els, Davis Love III, Darren Clarke, Stewart Cink, Justin Leonard and Mark Calcavecchia. Mr. Harmon’s students have combined for over 140 tour wins worldwide while under his tutelage, earning millions of dollars in the process.

Harmon Named #1 Instructor Again in Golf Digest Poll

UPDATED 2011--For 12 years-in-a-row, instructors nationwide voted Butch Harmon No. 1 in Golf Digest's ranking of America's 50 Greatest Teachers. But it nearly took a sudden-death playoff. In the closest finish since we started the game's only peer ranking in 2000, Harmon edged Hank Haney for the top spot by seven votes out of more than 500 ballots cast by instructors from all 50 states. Both teachers were well ahead of No. 3 David Leadbetter -- a testament to their work with the game's two highest-profile players, Harmon with Phil Mickelson and Haney with Tiger Woods.
